I am Heidi, a 25 year girl and the owner of Green Vale Farm. I grew up on a dairy farm in the next town over so farming has always been my passion and in my blood. I had no desire to own my own farm, but the opportunity unexpectedly arose the day after I graduated high school and so I took it. I leased the farm for the first 5 years while I slowly grew my own herd. My mom and I taught ourselves how to make cheese from our own dairy cows’ milk, and so I opened a store front on the farm where we now sell our own meats (beef, pork, lamb, chicken and fresh Thanksgiving turkeys), cheeses, tallow products and many more farm fresh items! 3 years ago I purchased the farm and now own it with my husband and daughter. He helps on the farm some when he has time, but he owns his own semi and trucks locally.
I absolutely love what I do and there is never a moment where I feel like I go to work 365 days a year. Yes, there are hard times getting started farming on your own at just 17 years old, but it has always been worth it and my daughter gets to come to work with me every single day, and that’s what I love the most. I get to not only show her and raise her with the very best lifestyle but I also get to share both of my passions, being a mom and a farmer.
